SSH Telnet
Learn more about the Telnet protocol and its usage.
SSH, or Secure Shell, is a network protocol that's used to connect to a web server and perform different tasks via a command line. The protocol is popular with many experienced users, as the data transmitted over it is encrypted, so it may not be intercepted on the way by a third party. SSH access can be employed for a number of things depending on the type of web hosting account. With a shared hosting account, in particular, SSH is among the ways to import/export a database or to upload a file if the website hosting server allows it. When you have a virtual or a dedicated server, SSH can be used for virtually everything - you could install software or restart certain services like the web server or the database server which run on the machine. SSH is used mainly with UNIX-like Operating Systems, but there are clients which enable you to use the protocol if your computer is working with a different Operating System too. The connection is established on TCP port 22 by default and the remote server always listens for incoming connections on that port although a number of providers change it for security reasons.

SSH Telnet in Website Hosting
If the website hosting package deal which you’ve picked through the signup procedure provides SSH access by default, you shall be able to activate this feature with only a mouse click in your Hepsia Control Panel. If you've picked a different plan, the SSH access feature could be added through the Upgrades menu and it'll become available immediately. All the info you need to connect will be conveniently listed inside the SSH section of the CP - the hostname, the username and the port number. You could also set what password to use from the same location and you shall be able to change it at any time. All commands that are permitted are listed within the Help articles which we have prepared for you, in addition to examples of the syntax that you must use. An additional advantage of permitting SSH access to your account is that you'll be able to upload files using an SFTP connection.
- SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Hosting
All our semi-dedicated server accounts provide the possibility to access and handle them using SSH. If the package that you've selected includes this feature by default, you just need to allow the SSH access function via the corresponding section of the Hepsia Control Panel. If the function is listed as an optional upgrade, you are able to quickly add it using the Add Services/Upgrades link in the Hepsia CP and it shall be available within a minute. We have various help articles and video tutorials concerning the use of SSH commands to handle your account and a full list of the commands you can carry out along with various examples to provide you with a better perception of what you could do. If SSH is enabled, you will also be able to create an SFTP connection to the account and to upload files securely through any FTP application that supports the feature.- SSH Telnet in VPS Web Hosting
The virtual private server packages which we offer provide SSH access as standard, not as an additional upgrade or a function which you must enable. The minute your new server is prepared, you'll be able to connect and begin working on your content using the login details that you've entered during the order process. A copy of the SSH credentials will be sent to you via email as well. Because your VPS will be isolated from the others on the physical server, there aren't any limitations regarding what you can or cannot do via SSH. You may download, set up and manage any piece of software which will run on a Linux machine, reboot the whole server or just a specific software component, and work with files, folders and databases without restrictions. All you'll need for that is a console or an SSH client on your end. - SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Hosting
