APC (PHP Opcode Cache)
Discover what the phrase ‘APC’ is short for, everything that APC is able to do PHP functionality-wise and the way to enable it for your account.
APC, which is an acronym for Alternative PHP Cache, is a framework used for caching the compiled source code of a given script app, that can speed up a database-driven Internet site several times. Every time a PHP web page is opened, the script pulls the website content that has to be loaded from a database, parses and compiles the program code, and the result is shown to the website visitor. While this is necessary for websites with regularly changing content, it's a waste of processing time and system resources for a site which doesn't change, such as an informational portal that shows the same content on a regular basis. As soon as the pages for such a website are compiled, APC caches them and delivers them whenever a visitor loads them. Since this saves the time to request content from the database and to parse and compile the program code, the Internet site will load a lot faster. APC is very helpful particularly for scripts with larger source code.

APC (PHP Opcode Cache) in Website Hosting
You will be able to use APC for your web apps with any of the website hosting packages that we provide as it is pre-installed on our cloud web hosting platform. Enabling it will take just a click in the Hepsia Control Panel which is provided with our shared solutions and a few minutes later it will start caching the code of your apps. Our platform is quite flexible, so you'll be able to use different configurations determined by the system requirements of the scripts. For instance, you can activate APC for a couple of versions of PHP for the entire account and choose the version that each site will use, or you can have the exact same version of PHP, but enable or disable APC only for specific websites. You can do this by placing a php.ini file with a line of code inside the domain or subdomain folder where you require the custom configuration.
- APC (PHP Opcode Cache) in Semi-dedicated Hosting
You can use APC for every script application which is run on your new semi-dedicated hosting since the module is already installed on the cloud hosting platform where the account will be created. Activating or deactivating APC for the entire account requires one click inside the Hepsia Control Panel, but if necessary, you could use the module only for specific Internet sites. This is possible because of the versatility of our cloud platform - different releases of PHP run on it concurrently, so with a php.ini file placed in a website folder, you will be able to choose what version will be used for this specific site and whether APC should be enabled or disabled. Employing such a file allows you to use settings which are different from the standard ones for your account, so you can take full advantage of APC for some scripts where the module makes a difference and not for others where you can use another kind of web accelerator. - APC (PHP Opcode Cache) in Semi-dedicated Hosting
