An access log is a text file containing a complete report on all of the files accessed by your site visitors. All of the files that were requested in one way or another shall be included, so if you have a PHP script application and a website visitor opens just the home page, for instance, you may find plenty of files in the log. The reason is that there are components on the home page which are embedded - parts of other pages, pictures, etcetera. All of these files will be listed in the access log, so you can get a complete picture of the way your site performs. The data is in plain text format, so the logs are sometimes termed "raw data" as well. An access log shows the name of every requested file, the path to it, the date it was accessed, along with the user’s IP address, web browser and OS. Additional information, such as the referrer site, is sometimes included as well. A log file could be processed by various desktop programs for statistical purposes as an addition to the web statistics created by your web server.
Access Log Manager in Website Hosting
Enabling the generation of access logs shall be very easy if you acquire a website hosting from us. The Hepsia web hosting Control Panel, provided with all the accounts, has a section on different logs and that is where you will find the access logs too. As you go there, you shall see a list of all the domain names hosted inside the account and the subdomains created for them. Our custom cloud hosting platform will start generating an access log for each of them when you click on the On button, which you'll see on the right. If you don't require logs, disabling the option is just as easy and can be carried out by clicking on the Off button in the same exact section. All the logs are downloadable, therefore you can conveniently save and manage them on your desktop PC or laptop.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Hosting
If you have a semi-dedicated server account with our company, it won't take more than several clicks to enable the generation of access logs by our system if you need them. The feature could be permitted through the Hepsia website hosting Control Panel and this can be done separately for each domain name or subdomain which you have inside your account. Whenever you log in and look at the Access/Error Logs section of the CP, you'll see a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to each of them. One click will enable the log generation and a second one will deactivate it, so you can control this feature with great simplicity. A Download link in the same section will enable you to save the gathered content as a text file, that you could then use on your personal computer. Whether or not the logs are disabled, you'll still be able to download the data that's been previously generated.
